How this works
Raspberry Pi + ADS-B antenna
A Raspberry Pi with a software-defined radio antenna picks up position broadcasts that aircraft transmit every second, hearing everything within ~100 miles.
Aircraft booking system
The flight school's aircraft booking system exports a calendar of reservations, including which aircraft (by tail number) is reserved and when.
Matched in real time
When a reservation is active, a Mac Mini on the home network watches for that specific tail number in the ADS-B feed and tracks its position live.
Pushed to the cloud
The Mac Mini pushes live status here every few seconds — no raw ADS-B data leaves the house otherwise.
